Nem Lui Hue – Hue lemongrass skewers

Nem lui is Vietnamese grilled pork sausage or grilled meatball, and a popular Vietnamese food  item, sometimes served as an individual appetizer or snack from afternoon till night, or served as a main course. Nem lui is a specialty of Hue

Nem lui  is made of ground pork with between a third and a half pork fat. The meat is typically favoured with chopped sharllot, fish sauce, MSG, pork stock and black pepper.

It is formed into sausages or meatballs on lemongrass skewer, sometimes bamboo stick and then grilled or baked.

Nem lui is a common filler in rice paper with green vegetable such as lettuce, cucumber, green mango, star fruit, pickled carrot and green papaya, fig, mint

Nem lui dipped in Nước lèo”dipping sauce”with a peanut dip. Nước lèo “peanut sauce” is made of pork liver or can use pork meat, peanut butter and  tương bần”fermented soya bean” or can use hoisin sauce, pound rasted peanut and sesame , topped with crushed roasted peanut. 

Nem lui can be eaten with dipping sauce with fish sauce, sugar, chopped garlic and chili, lemonjuice or vinegar
